An art game or arthouse game is a video game that is designed in such a way as to emphasize art or whose structure is intended to produce some kind of reaction in its audience. Art games typically go out of their way to have a unique, unconventional look, often standing out for aesthetic beauty or complexity in design. This concept extends to the realm of modified ("modded") gaming when modifications have been made to existing non-art-games to produce graphic results intended to be viewed as an artistic display, as opposed to modifications intended to change game play scenarios or for storytelling. Modified games created for artistic purposes are sometimes referred to as "video game art." From Wikipedia under the

I'm about to apply a school with Game Art major but I'm not that good in math so I'm kind of a little bit worry to know what kind of math I need to take. Are there anyone out there have been taking Game Art courses & can tell me how difficult is it? Asked by lean_ny - Sun Jul 4 15:53:23 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Someone will have more personal experiences than I with this specific major, but I do know many universities require linear algebra. For linear algebra, one will necessarily have experience with well-taught algebra, trigonometry, and an introductory calculus series. Don't be intimidated by math, approach it like you'd approach something you enjoy, and spend a significant amount of time (while taking breaks when frustrated). Answered by Captain Tomato - Wed Jul 7 05:37:56 2010 What are Good Colleges to get a major in game art and design? Q. I'm a freshman in high school but i'm looking into colleges and i want to become a video game designer when i am older but i don't know of any good colleges that i could go to so do any of you have any ideas. Asked by Kogen - Wed Apr 29 14:09:20 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. if you want to work in the game industry, you are best to get a bachelor's degree first - computer science if you want to program, art/animation if you want to be an artist etc. Each company only has a few designers, and people who are designers don't get hired right off the bat as such -- they are veterans of the industry. Design takes more than a course in college, and this isn't what companies are looking for. Many people who are now designers started off in QA, art, development, and then later moved into design positions. Colleges that offer courses in design are not going to give you the tools that are needed to be a designer. This probably isnt the answer that you want to hear, but working in the industry i have seen many… [cont.] Answered by Twyst - Fri May 1 12:11:03 2009 Which College is better for game design: Art Center or Otis?
Q. I am a junior who has been looking into what colleges I should be preparing for, and these two are both in my area and well known. Both look great, but I am having trouble figuring out which one I should ultimately pursue: Art Center or Otis. I am planning on going into gaming design or something of the sort, and I need help. Any advice or suggestions? Asked by Tsubo - Thu Oct 18 20:31:35 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. First it's important to understand exactly what "game design" means. There is no art in game design. There is no programming. Game design is done almost exclusively with writing and math. The designer's job is to come up with the ideas for every tiny detail of the game, and communicate those ideas to the rest of the game development team (programmers, artists, testers, etc). The designer decides what NPC the player encounters where, and what the NPC will say; what weapon the player can get at what point in the game and how much damage it does; what attacks a boss mob has and how much damage they do, etc. If you're thinking character design or level design for games rather than true game design, any art school that teaches 3D/computer… [cont.] Answered by Ryot - Thu Oct 18 21:11:32 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Art game" |
