Pet Rocks were a 1970s fad conceived in Los Gatos, California by advertising executive Gary Dahl. DevelopmentIn April 1975, Dahl was in a bar listening to his friends complain about their pets. This gave him the idea for the perfect "pet": a rock. A rock would not need to be fed, walked, bathed, groomed and would not die, become sick, or be disobedient. He said they were to be the perfect pets, and joked about it with his friends. However, he eventually took the idea seriously, and went home and drafted an "instruction manual" for a pet rock. It was full of puns, gags and plays on words that referred to the rock as an actual pet. From Wikipedia under the

My pet rock always wants to play with the birds, how do I tell him that they are bad without hurting his feelings? Asked by Natalie R - Tue Sep 9 18:34:13 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. You should probably collect an assortment of older and wiser wild rocks from outside, maybe from your garden if you have one. That way these elder rocks could impart the wisdom of their ages and tell your pet rocks about how birds do things that are unkind to rocks and other things. It would be good if it were other rocks that shared this with your pet rock, because your pet rock would feel a bond of trust ( a sense of kinship) with those brother or sister rocks as they gently guide it through their rock mentorship. Q. LOL ok let me get this straight first. I'm not like "raising" a pet rock. It's for decor. I would really love a pet rock for my office desk so i was wondering is it OK for me to use rubber cement for the eyes? Will it dry? Just wondering because i've never used rubber cement until now. thanks! Asked by crazymilkrunner - Sat Jul 11 00:40:07 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Rubber glue will stick and dry to stone, but what about purchasing some little eyes from the local craft store - these would look much better.
