How to train a dog to use it's paw to touch something ?
Q. I have a science project. I have to find out if dogs are colorblind.\ Here's the link: It says to train a dog to choose a color. I asked earlier about what would the dog do and it says that it would nose it or touch it with it's paw. How will I train the dog to nose it or paw it?

A. Dogs are green-blind; many studies have been done about it, and that's been the conclusive finding. (Just Google something like "dogs colorblind" or any variation of that and you'll find plenty of info.) Are you allowed to do a science project on something that already has a reasonably definitive answer? (In case you're wondering, green-blindness is a form of red-green colorblindness, which is actually present in about seven to ten percent of human males. Dogs basically see red, orange, yellow and green as yellows, so they pretty much view the world in blue, violet and yellow.) Anyway, the behavior you're looking for is called targeting. You basically just reward the dog every time he does what you want him to do. (I recommend… [cont.]

A. Print the picture that you linked here out and take it to the tattoo shop with you. The artist will be able to help you and give you their opinion on what they think would look best. I think that would be your best bet because your foot isn't that big of an area so he would be able to see your foot and know how much room there is to add other things without it looking to crowded or smashed together.

Has anyone ever heard of or used this product? Pet Esthe Paw Pad Anti Slip Lotion?
Q. My dog is getting older and having trouble walking on our wood floors. I am looking into paw pads but wanted to know if a product similar to this would be better for her. Has anyone used this or a product like this?
Asked by Alex - Wed Aug 12 21:21:06 2009 - Dogs - 2 Answers - Comments
A. I've never heard of them or their products, but I would think throw rugs & runners with anti-slip backing would be far more logical. Udder Cream or Bag Balm would have the same moisturizing effect (for less money & wouldn't have to come from Tokyo).

How do you put on a "Lil' Paw" Adjustable Harness for the Peitite Dog?
Q. I need some instructions cause the ones it came with are soo basic and ive never done it before. i just dont want to put it on her wrong and hurt her. any help would be appreciated it!!! Below is a link to a picture of my exact harness so you know what kind i have.

A. Hi there...I just happened to be shopping on-line for one of these harnesses for my dog (we already own one), and your question came up...The easiest way I can explain it is as follows: Unhook the harness and lay it on the floor, making sure to have the small piece that divides the two longer pieces, in the middle. I then take her little paws and place one paw in one opening and the other in tthe other opening. With her still standing, I then pull the two clip ends up on her back and snap. When it is laying on the floor, it should look like a diamond with the smaller piece running down the middle. I know...kind of confusing...Hope it helps!

What do you think of this tattoo for an animal lover/vegan?
Q. I love animals, especially cats... I wanted to get something like this: But I've noticed that a lot of paw print tattoos look really trashy...does this? I'm putting this here because I assume you all love animals as well and I wanted your opinions.

A. I think that tattoo is cute, but its entirely up to you as it goes on your body. I am also an animal lover who especially loves cats. I have a cat tattoo on my back. One important thing though is to find a vegan tattoo artist who mixes their own ink. The typical tattoo ink used by most artists is not vegan. Black ink is made up of animal bones burnt down to charcoal. And the glycerin used is normally from animal fats. Good luck!

Smudge tracks are soil, debris, or water that are left on hard surfaces such as yours which leave too many distortions. It could be a feline or a canine, among others. Felines generally keep their claws retracted while walking or running and fox prints are round such as felines. What happens with smudge tracks that makes them very difficult to I.D. are the various distortions. Puppy paw pad split? ...pic?
Q. I was wondering why she was chewing on her foot so I looked and saw something weird...(see diagram) I'm worried that her paw pad split...I'm fourteen and my mom's not home but I called her and she said she will make an appointment for the vets on Monday when she will also get spayed and her rabies vac. But untill then I would like to know if some one could tell me what's wrong with her foot (and what to do about it. (any vets?) PS: She's not limping and she's acting her normal self so I don't think it's that serious, she doesn't whine or anything when I massage it. Thanks so much :)
