History

The flag was proposed by the Columbus Day Committee in 1913, but it was not adopted until 1917.

Use

The proportions of the flag are 7:10.[1]

The code specifies that the flag is to be flown at city hall and at the commons. It is also flown at private locations throughout the city, as most cities fly their flags more frequently than, say, a smaller town.

NAVA survey

The flag placed 133 in a survey of 150 city flags based on appearance.[2]
