Can I install an xbox 360 game to the hard drive without the disc?
Q. Hello. I own some games that are scratched and some sections of the game work but most of them do not. I want to install the games to my hard drive and play them, because the discs are readable, but the discs are too scratched to install the whole game. Is there a way for me to install the game through an outside source, like my computer or a flash drive, so that I can play the games with my discs?
Asked by jeremy - Fri Nov 26 17:44:07 2010 - Video & Online Games - 3 Answers - Comments

A. No, you need the disc... I'd suggest borrowing a copy from a friend long enough to install it, or renting a copy from Blockbuster or Gamefly to install it.

How do Blockbuster game rentals work out?
Q. Well, I'm new to the whole renting games thing, but I've decided to try it out. The website didn't tell me much, so I'm asking Yahoo. Do you need a membership to rent games? (Just to make sure) And if so, what are the membership details? Is there a cost to renting games or is it a monthly plan thing? Just any and all information about memberships and game rentals will be good.
Asked by Chris - Thu Jun 25 05:11:31 2009 - Video & Online Games - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Well, if you plan on renting a lot of games, you might want to opt for the month rental. My friend has it. He can either rent two movies, two games or a movie and a game and return it the next day for another two movies, games or one of each. It's about 35 dollars. A membership from Blockbuster is simple, but not necessary. However, if you plan to rent a lot, it'll be easier to just do it. You just need your credit card, and they'll help you with the rest and hand you a plastic Blockbuster card to use whenever you rent.

What was that pc game where you played various games with bizzare characters?
Q. You could play all kinds of card games and other traditional games. You got to chose a character to be and those you played against. There was a bear that wore a hat and spoke with an accent, an old lady, an alien, and other strange characters who all had smartass, sarcastic, and funny things to say through out the game. It's been a while since I played this, like maybe late 90s? Perhaps a little later. Anyone know what this could be??? It was in 1997 and it's called Classic Holye Card Games.

Q. And also IF im able to mouse over the game minmize when I click on the other screen. So is there a way to fix this? Please help.

A. use extended desktop mode. adjust monitors so they are next to each other. assuming that the left hand side monitor is the main one, push the mouse (and cursor) to the right side of the screen. push it further. it went to left one. run both games on both screens and switch when necessary. pause game and click any where on desktop. that will lose focus on game. then go to other screen. click on game and unpause.

How can I copy a game I have on my desktop computer to my laptop?
Q. I purchased a game online and downloaded it to my desktop computer. I want to have the game also on my laptop, w/o having to purchase the game again. When I have tried to do this myself, I can only copy the game icon, not the whole game. Can someone help?

A. I believe the first thing you should understand about programs that are installed is that beyond the files that you see on your desktop or your program lists or even in the folders that are present on your computer after you have installed a program, there are files and other stub or thread of the program that goes into different other locations on your computer. For example, some keys are added to your register and all that, depending on the way the programmers have instructed the program to be installed. Now if you have installed the program on your laptop, and you want to copy it, you must copy the files that you have downloaded and not the one that you installed. If you copy the installed files, or the icons (which I think you are… [cont.]

Is game developing not a lifelong career if I plan to have the save job until Im 67?
Q. Im interested in pursuing a career in game developing but I want the same job until Im retired at 67 years old without shifting to a different career. I only see game developers in their 20s and 30s, the older guys in their 40s are like Game Directors or CEOs. They could retire early with their huge salary. Switching careers means going to school again and paying more in tuition fees, if you still haven't fully paid your loans your basically screwed in this economy.

Do you think going to game development track in Computer Science is better than the others?
Q. I really love creating games in C/C++ that's why I'm planning to go to game development track but some people said that creating games won't make you rich. Going to computational or what I mean is focus in creating softwares for companies is better than in games. Should I believe those people? I love creating games. I love also playing games. A. Those people are retarded. Learning programming is learning programming. Software engineering is software engineering no matter where you go. Taking classes in computer programming as they relate to video games will be very similar to classes in computer programming that relate to software development. As long as you are learning the basic fundamentals of programming and software development then you will be fine. I wanted to learn programming, but I wanted to go to an online school because I already work full time and I'm a single mother. I found UAT.edu which offers a few of their bachelor programs completely online. I'm currently taking a BS program in software engineering with a concentration in video game programming. A. I don't think this is true at all, since PC are scalable and consoles/dedicated arcade cabs are not. A PC can use any hardware configuration it wants. So in theory, PC versions should look better than their console counterparts as long as the hardware is strong enough

What video game do you recommend for a good story?
Q. I like to play video games while my girlfriend watches, because she's not good at playing them herself. It's like an interactive movie. I've played the entire Zelda series for her, and Bioshock, and now we're working on Halflife 2. I'm looking for a good single-player game that I can play while she watches. Graphics and story are more important than anything else. I have a PS2, Gamecube, and very good PC, and would prefer a game on the PC.

A. A lot depends on your sister. My family has always had the practice of giving and playing games. We love cranium, a great game. What we have been playing the most is Apples to Apples. This is a great game on so many different levels. It is a blast to sit around with a group of friends with some frosty beverages. This will keep you a little closer to your budget. I hope that this helps.

A. if you do odds are they will ban you, the disk has an encryption in it that even if you do upload all the files, the encryption will not follow and when you try to use your codes all that will happen is they will ban those codes from ever playing...plus you will have to buy the game all over.

A. Little Big Planet is a huge hit. You can make you're own Sack boy or girl and go through a huge platforming world. They have preset made levels, and players can make their own that can be put online which makes it a game that never stops having new levels. And you can play co-op up to 4 people.

What happens if a baseball game is suspended, and one of the players is traded before it is completed?
Q. In a suspended game, the lineup has to stay the same when the game is resumed, unless substitutions are made. What happens if, late in the game with many substitutions already made, a game is suspended. Before the game is resumed, trades effectively make it impossible to substitute players and one of the active players in the lineup has also been traded. What is the rule in this regard?
Asked by wcstockj_iscpa - Wed Jun 27 17:32:16 2007 - Baseball - 5 Answers - Comments

A. Good question. The relevant MLB rule is part of 4.12(c), which states: "...A player who was not with the club when the game was suspended may be used as a substitute, even if he has taken the place of a player no longer with the club who would not have been eligible because he had been removed from the lineup before the game was suspended." In other words, any player who is new to the team is considered the same as any other player who has not yet played in the game - he is eligible to be put in as a substitute, even if the player he replaced on the roster had already been pulled from the game. In theory, this allows a team to use more than 25 players (or whatever the roster limit happens to be) during the course of a game.

How to manually create game shortcuts in games folder on Windows 7?
Q. When I install a video game on Windows 7, it usually places its shortcut in games folder. I find this very convenient, cause I can see rating information, information how well my computer can run it etc. The problem is, some of the games don't do this, and I was wondering, is there a way to manually enter this information, using windows registry, or whatever?
Asked by Zoran - Mon Oct 5 12:01:02 2009 - Software - 2 Answers - Comments

A. To put a shortcut there, right-click the game file, select Create Shortcut and move the shortcut to the game folder. But a shortcut isn't going to have game statistics. That's something the game itself creates, and you'd have to write a program (a separate one for each game) to do that.

A game is a structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more concerned with the expression of ideas. A game can also be distinguished from play which is usually unstructured, and a puzzle which requires a strong mental concentration and is undertaken alone.
