Game development is the process by which a game is produced. Today this term most commonly refers to the development of video games. Typically, large-scale commercial games are created by development teams within a company specializing in computer or console games. Software engineering is software engineering no matter where you go. Taking classes in computer programming as they relate to video games will be very similar to classes in computer programming that relate to software development. As long as you are learning the basic fundamentals of programming and software development then you will be fine.
