Q. I was reading the short story and at the end it says that the husband wished for "something" and then everything was over. I have my own idea as to what happened but I'm kind of wondering what other people think the wish was. YAY!

A. The lingering terror of The Monkey s Paw is that we have no idea what the last wish was. Clearly, Mr. White wished for his son to be gone at least that s what it appears he wished for. But we don t know for certain. And even more chilling what will be the consequence of the last wish?
