What are some good Message Boards for Websites?
Q. I have a social website with multiple members who each have a unique account. I want to have message boards available for each of my members so that other members can post messages on their individual boards (similar to the facebook wall). Do I have to write this code myself and store it in my database or should I buy a cheap yet effective program on the web? I haven't been able to find any as of now that meet my needs. All I find are community message forums. Any ideas or insights. Thanks!

A. I have been working with Google Friend Connect and it does have the functionality that you are looking for, the only drawback is that the users need to be registered with an OpenID or Gmail, etc. Anyway, if you don't want to use something like Google Friend Connect above you can always write something yourself. It should not be too hard or complex.

What is a good railroad related site with message boards?
Q. I've asked a few questions here, and the answers have been great, but perhaps I should read some actual railroad site message boards. Is there one "prime" site that all the railfans go to share their info and ask questions? Thanks

How does Yahoo deal with abusive posters on financial message boards?
Q. I have reported abusive posts on a couple Yahoo financial message boards (specific company's boards). Many of these posts are from the same accounts, over-and-over. Yahoo seems to deal with the post in about 24 hours. Does Yahoo ever remove the accounts that are responsible for the repeated abuse? Do they attempt to shut down this abuse based on the IP address from which they eminate? etc...?
Asked by lch_nh - Wed Oct 14 11:28:09 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. 1. are you being overly sensitive because someone disagrees with you & are you're playing TOS tag? if they get enough legit complaints from different users they'll simply delete the offending account. mostly they tell you to use the ignore feature to block posts by certain posters. to the best of my experience having multiple yahoo accounts, they don't block based on IP address.

Are there any manufacturing related message boards or online communities?
Q. Hi there, I am having trouble finding any manufacturing or industrial related message boards or communities that aren't owned by a specific manufacturing company. Do you know of any?
Asked by Emily C - Tue Aug 4 13:42:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Absolutely. What you should do is join linkedin.com. It's a free site for professionals to network and share ideas. They have groups and forums for pretty much any industry. They would probably even have one for your particular manufactoring style. And no, I'm not a spokesperson for linkedin.

Are there any good theater message boards?
Q. I'm looking for message boards specifically about theater- I really need help finding a monologue for college auditions (I have very specific requirements for what I want, so it's difficult) and a message board/forum is probably my best bet. In the case that you happen to know a lot of monologues, I'm looking for a contemporary comedic monologue, male, roughly around my age group (I'm seventeen), and it has to be low key. The monologue I'm matching it up with is really strong and really dramatic and big, so I need something small, nuanced, and funny. Also, it preferably shouldn't be a story- stories don't really give a good impression of acting ability, as far as I've seen. Thanks in advance!
Asked by Skop - Sat Nov 11 23:50:44 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There is quite a good discussion forum here ... most of the members are participants in good regional theatres and are very helpful with questions, etc. There's not much in the way of 'chat' - just specific questions and answers.

Why do you require visa card info to sign a child up for yahoo to participate on message boards?
Q. I just tried to sign my child up with a Yahoo ID to participate on the math message boards, but it would not let me continue without visa card information. Why do you need that information? I thought this was a free service.

A. No one asked me for visa information to sign-up for Yahoo and I would never give them that info anyway. Indeed if I were you, I would check that it was Yahoo and not a phishing site that you entered your credit card information.

Are there any Newfoundland message boards?
Q. I'm planning a trip to Newfoundland this summer, and am looking for information other than the typical tourism sites. Does anybody know of message boards or websites I can find some more information? Thanks in advance.

A. check out and I don't know if they have message boards, though. I think you might need to click on "virtual kitchen party" but when I tried, it was under construction. I find that a lot of the tourism sites don't give "typical" tourism info anyway. Newfoundland prides itself on being unique and having unique festivals. The site at the very end of all of my typing is pretty good. It makes my heart drop a little to see how wonderful everything is. I might be able to help with some information, but I would need to know more details about when and where you are going as well as what you are wanting to see. I moved here and did a lot of research before doing so. You could send me an e-mail if you would like. As far as finding chat… [cont.]

A. I totally agree, if in fact you're referring to Yahoo message boards. So what if a few people like to start trouble by posting offensive (to some) messages? I can always skip over those. There have been some healthy discussions and debates on those message boards in the past. They should really bring them back. Not sure if it's a first amendment issue though. After all, it is THEIR board, and they can do what they want with them. However, they are really doing themselves a disservice by not allowing users to interact.
