What are some good Message Boards for Websites?
Q. I have a social website with multiple members who each have a unique account. I want to have message boards available for each of my members so that other members can post messages on their individual boards (similar to the facebook wall). Do I have to write this code myself and store it in my database or should I buy a cheap yet effective program on the web? I haven't been able to find any as of now that meet my needs. All I find are community message forums. Any ideas or insights. Thanks!

A. I have been working with Google Friend Connect and it does have the functionality that you are looking for, the only drawback is that the users need to be registered with an OpenID or Gmail, etc. Anyway, if you don't want to use something like Google Friend Connect above you can always write something yourself. It should not be too hard or complex.

Q. I'm 16 years old and I just had my wonderful son on the 11th. I gave him up for adoption to the best family a birth mother could wish for. How does Yahoo deal with abusive posters on financial message boards?
Q. I have reported abusive posts on a couple Yahoo financial message boards (specific company's boards). Many of these posts are from the same accounts, over-and-over. Yahoo seems to deal with the post in about 24 hours. Does Yahoo ever remove the accounts that are responsible for the repeated abuse? Do they attempt to shut down this abuse based on the IP address from which they eminate? etc...?
Asked by lch_nh - Wed Oct 14 11:28:09 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 1. are you being overly sensitive because someone disagrees with you & are you're playing TOS tag? if they get enough legit complaints from different users they'll simply delete the offending account. mostly they tell you to use the ignore feature to block posts by certain posters. to the best of my experience having multiple yahoo accounts, they don't block based on IP address.

Are There Any Forums or Message Boards Where I Can Go Just to Socialize?
Q. For a couple of years i spent time on a small political message board. I enjoyed spending time on there just socializing but the site shut down about a year ago. I am not too interested in discussing politics these days but i still would like to spend some late nights talking on a message board. Does anyone know of any message boards that are just meant for socializing or one that isn't but where that is mostly just what people do anyway?

Why do you require visa card info to sign a child up for yahoo to participate on message boards?
Q. I just tried to sign my child up with a Yahoo ID to participate on the math message boards, but it would not let me continue without visa card information. Why do you need that information? I thought this was a free service.
Asked by fabules - Wed Sep 13 18:50:49 2006 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. No one asked me for visa information to sign-up for Yahoo and I would never give them that info anyway. Indeed if I were you, I would check that it was Yahoo and not a phishing site that you entered your credit card information.

What will happen to the message boards after dec 19th?
Q. Yahoo! News is working on new ways for readers to comment on the news and participate in a discussion around it. While we work on our new community features, the message boards that have been linked from individual news articles will be taken offline Dec. 19. As currently set up, the Yahoo! News message boards allow a small number of vocal users to dominate the discussion. In addition, related discussions from similar news articles are not easily linked. Over the next few months, we plan to offer new discussion forums based on topics in the news and incorporating the latest features to foster a better discussion for all of our readers. So what will happen?
Asked by uturnabout - Tue Dec 12 09:37:12 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Probably nothing earth-shattering, except to those who have made the boards their lives. Everyone who is/was a regular will probably lay low 'til they figure out how things work, and then they'll figure out how to get back into their regular routines online. Personally, this move has been looong overdue from Yahoo. So many boards that showed contained old posts, yet you couldn't add a new post. Or, the rec function was often dysfunctional (like the trolls). And then, of course, there are the trolls...

Did the end of the Yahoo News Message Boards lead to Yahoo's current financial worries?
Q. After Neil Budde took down the message boards, Yahoo lost all the ad revenue created by so many page hits. That forced them to lay off thousands of people. Now they are looking for someone to buy them out.
Asked by neil b - Mon Feb 4 21:01:13 2008 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Yes, I think it did. I loved the boards and could spend hours on them. Yahoo showed the world it has no balls and I hope it goes under.

Why are message boards always filled with Israeli-Palestine ranters?
Q. Every one, even the Defiance message boards on the IMDB are filled with the lunatics that rant about Israel and Palestine? Why do so many people care? I'm sick of it.
Asked by Barracuda - Fri Jan 16 00:12:32 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You know what galls me? First that they rant about the Israeli and Palestinian problems. Assuming the Palestinians got what they wanted, do you think there'd be peace there? I mean these people lie to everyone because they're desperate. And on the flip side, the Israelis are constantly being forced to use brute force in the face of people who harass them even when they do get what they want. So I am not surprised about the ranting. But truth of the matter is, there is no easy answer to that problem. Until the Palestinians and Israelis are through killing each other, or decide that its easier to live in peace with one another, there's going to be violence spilling out all over the region. I think it takes a national will to commit to… [cont.]

Does anybody know of any Religion Message boards where people are more respectful and tolerant?
Q. I enjoy the chatting that goes on here but I wouldn't mind being part of a religion message board where a person's faith isn't attacked all the time. I'm Mormon and I've got used to it here but I see people attacking atheists and vice-versa. I also see fellow Christians of different faiths attacking each other.

A. It's not "attacking" to insist on evidence before we'll take you or your claims about the supernatural seriously. Stop playing the victim.
