NounSingular software development Plural uncountable software development (uncountable)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Software development is the act of working to produce/create software. This software could be produced for a variety of purposes - the three most common purposes are to meet specific needs of a specific client/business, to meet a perceived need of some set of potential users (the case with commercial and open source software), or for personal use (e.g. a scientist may write software to automate a mundane task). The term software development is often used to refer to the activity of computer programming, which is the process of writing and maintaining the source code, whereas the broader sense of the term includes all that is involved between the conception of the desired software through to the final manifestation of the software. Therefore, software development may include research, new development, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities that result in software products. For larger software systems, usually developed by a team of people, some form of process is typically followed to guide the stages of production of the software. Especially the first phase in the software development process may involve many departments, including marketing, engineering, research and development and general management. GNU Free Documentation License how does the object approach of software development reduce complexity of a program? Q. it is not an assignment, it is the answer to my assignment, i just need someone to put my though on the right track(question is 5 issues tradional approach of software development can not solve but object approach can solve). i think that traditional approach cud not access libraries which made them write their own code over again but object approach allows the access of libraries and this reduces complexity. am i rite? A poorly designed/maintained OO program can be just as bad, or worse, than a non OO one. The attributes others mentioned, polymorphism, inheritance, etc. actually can do more damage than help when not used properly. But, in practice it can reduce complexity by basically encapsulating functionality (behviour) into a class that eliminates the need for you to understand how it is doing it's work. It lends itself more to modular designs of atomic parts. Inheritance, etc. can reduce the overall complexity because you can eliminate special case programming in the control logic. If a class hierarchy presents the same interface for all derived classes then your control… [cont.] Answered by LoverOfWine - Fri Sep 11 05:05:55 2009 Have you outsourced software development to another country? Q. Which US company did you use to outsource software development work to another country? I don't think I can afford to use the really big guys because my budget is not that high. I've heard good things about outsourcing to Vietnam, so if you know of a company that focuses on Vietnam, that would be great. Q. I am thinking about possibly choosing software development as a career path. I have been in IT for a while and have dabbled in it, but never anything too serious. That said, I have a couple questions... What is the best thing to start studying when starting out? C++? Java? What can I do to get a sort of feel for it - to know if it's really what I want to do? Thanks Everyone! Asked by blink281 - Fri Dec 7 10:43:46 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Java is good for starting out. It is very easy to learn and its syntax is modeled after C++ making it easy to later pick up C++. That said, you should study C++ after you have some experience with Java. C++ has many more diverse uses than Java, and would be a good thing to have on your resume. C++ is a bit more complex of a language though, so I wouldn't suggest trying to learn it until you have some of the programming basics down. One thing I suggest to everyone is to not get your mind locked on one language. Once you've picked up a couple and have some experience with programming, learning additional languages is easy. So keep your mind open to taking opportunities to learn new languages and technologies whenever you can.
